In recent years, LED light source has a tendency to replace traditional light source, and its proportion in the lighting industry is getting higher and higher. In some high-end markets such as professional lighting, LEDs have some advantages, but in terms of cheap LED solutions, the parameters of LED light sources cannot be compared with metal halide lamps.

Q:Are LEDs suitable for all application scenarios?
A:The form of lamps and light sources is only determined by us after comprehensive consideration of energy-saving effect, cost control, light and color comfort, specific requirements and other conditions under the premise of completing the light environment and control functions.In principle, as long as the above requirements are met, any type of light source can be used.

Q:Why are there still many designers and owners insisting on using metal halide lamps
A:Many specific venues are very sensitive or critical to the spectrum or feel, metal halide lamps, and even incandescent lamps will still be irreplaceable options (maybe very few, but due to critical visual perception, this choice will exist for a long time). This problem stems from our subjective evaluation of light adaptability and comfort. The spectrum of LED is different from sunlight, and it is also different from traditional tricolor fluorescent lamps and high color rendering metal halide lamps. Even with the same color rendering index and color temperature, the visual sense will be quite different. In some places, such as special museums, booths, hotels, special commercial locations, etc., tungsten halogen lamps, metal halide lamps, and optical fiber lamps are still the first choice for traditional equipment.

Q:Under what circumstances will ceramic metal halide lamps be chosen?
A:Visual sense requires areas or local locations with very high or very critical light environments; areas with infrequent switching; areas insensitive to UV and IR; accent lighting areas with high contrast (smaller high-density luminous points will make more precise light distribution).

Q:What parameters/performance can current ceramic metal halide lamps achieve?
A: Light efficiency 110-120lm/W (different power and model, the result is slightly different); life 12000-20000 hours (different power and model, the result is slightly different); color temperature 3000K, 4200K, etc. (different manufacturers, slightly different, but will have both).

Q:What are the disadvantages of ceramic metal halide lamps in application?
A:Start-up time and restart time (the common problem of gas discharge lamps, will still exist);
    Difficulty in dimming (some models can be adjusted between 50-100%);
    resulting in a shift in color temperature and color rendering index after dimming.

Q:What are the disadvantages of LED lamps compared to ceramic metal halide lamps?
A:In terms of light and color comfort, it is not as close to the customary feeling as ceramic metal halide lamps; high-power narrow beam and ultra-narrow beam (below 5 degrees) lamps are difficult to achieve; the cost of lamps with a color rendering index Ra>90 is controlled.

Q:What kind of competitive relationship will LED and ceramic metal halide lamps have in the market?
A:In the long run, LED is the direction, but metal halide lamps, especially high color rendering ceramic metal halide lamps, will coexist at the same time, and each has its own market.

Q:What's the harm in blindly worshipping one type of lighting fixture?
A:One is the high cost, and the other is that a specific light environment atmosphere may not be created. The best way is to determine the form of light sources and lamps according to the needs of the light environment, not to stick to a certain type of equipment, but to obtain the best light environment effect and the most reasonable cost control from the needs.
